Traditional Hill Tribe dance. I will go to Soppong and then stay with a family in a traditional Lisu Hill Tribe home. The man is an American from Chicago who moved out 6 years ago and married a local woman here. They are trying to preserve local culture and it is very far removed from touristy Thailand. Also it is on the Burma/Thailand border, and at 2200 m high, should be cold and very interesting. I am an anthropologist after all right?

I drove a motorbike all through the mountains yesterday, just spectacular.

This is Pai

Yes you are an anthropologist and an excellent opportunity to learn. Wear your helmut and be safe. Check out the rugs :) Looks beautiful over there. I hope you danced with them.
Hi Dave, I am so glad to hear you are well and investigating the countryside. It must be amazing! When will you stay with the family in soppng? How did you find this american and his thai wife? Do you meet Taylor on the 5th? And about that visa to India-you can get it in Thailand? And you thought the lines in Chicago were long?? Anyhow, stay safe and stay close. You are doing a great job keeping those of us at home up to speed with your travels. I sure love you
