Just spent 3 days in a small village called Nong Tong on the Burma border. Wild stories about the violence and madness of the opium war on the border. Lots of opium/heroin production in this part of the world, actually the biggest for many years. Anyways I meditated at night with interesting people who were detoxing from Beligum/New Zealand/Australia. What a peaceful place, (except for the party that went all night into sunrise). I am now renting a bicycle and riding around Chiang Mai, Taylor comes tomorrow, then the Flower Festival begins on Saturday, very exciting. Chok dee
Standing on the porch early morning, very cold here.
Lovely Tong Si, old single Burmese man who spoke minimal amounts of English, very friendly.
Old men, watching the party, smoking homegrown tobacco cigarettes rolled in corn husk
Here's the view from the house

Hi Dave,
How exciting for you to have a chance to spend some time immersed in a true cultural sense. I love the costumes and the Thai "bling" that the dancers are wearing. Couldn't see anything on your video clip, but it sounds like everyone was having a great time!
I look forward to seeing more pics and posts as your travels continue.
Take care, you're in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Chrisa
